7 Bars to explore, one for each day of the week in Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is a city with a serious passion for cocktails, and a habit of staying up well past bedtime. Across its dozens of lively, unique neighborhoods, the city has a swathe of magnificent coctelerías, serving up some of the most innovative drinks in South America. Some of the bests bars are at walking distance from Cassa Lepage. Let's review our favs.
You’d best enjoy your spirits if you plan on going to Doppelgänger, because that’s all you’re getting. No wine list, no cursory lager pump, just an enormous range of vermouths, bitters, brandies, vodkas, gins – you name it, they have it, and they know how to use it. Sitting in the slightly calmer neighborhood of San Telmo, Doppelgänger is a far cry from the raucous bars of Palermo – here, the atmosphere is a little more sedate, but the service is warm and attentive, and the cocktails are so good that you’d never consider a cerveza anyway.
BAR SUR in San TELMO
Bar Sur is one of the most exclusive and intimate venues. Bar Sur has more of a traditional bar setting rather than a layout specifically designed for tango dancers and spectators; about a dozen tables sit around the edge of the room with the dancers at the center, performing not on a stage but on the classic black and white tiled floor. There is an entrance fee and food and drink are not included, so it is a slightly different set-up to the all-inclusive shows specifically designed for tourists. For a more authentic vibe, Bar Sur is a great option.
BAR EL FEDERAL
El Federal is one of the best places in the city for a traditional bar experience. The tradition begins with the exterior, with floor-to-ceiling windows and dark green awning, and then inside are old rustic wooden tables and a bar behind which the wall is covered with wine bottles. It is thought by many to actually be the oldest bar in the city, and even if that’s not the case, the atmosphere of late 19th century Argentina can still be felt. Despite its age, the bar is still clean and well-kept, while managing to retain its old-school charm. An excellent spot for a daytime coffee or evening beer.
Keeping the themed bar theme, our next suggestion is the wonderfully chic Victoria Brown. Combining a industrial victorian era style with steampunk vibes, this speakeasy is truly one not to miss and, quite frankly, hard to find! Keep an eye out for the street number and you’ll find a mural, go past that mural and through a door and boom! Victoria Bar.

Million is a French style house transformed into a multi space bar, with a beautiful dinning room and, especially, a scene stealing garden and terrace. This is very much a place to enjoy now that the weather is warming up and absolutely perfect for a date night.

Taking inspiration from the immigrant history of Buenos Aires and the myths surrounding the ocean, Florería Atlantico is a cozy speakeasy that doubles as one of the most beautiful flower shops in the city. Hidden from the world by a fridge-like door, one must just descend the stairs to find a nautical themed bar where creative cocktails, delicious food and, above all, great service awaits.

J.W. BRADLEY LTD.
J.W. Bradley LTD takes it’s inspiration from the Orient Express, the famous train that connected Paris with Constantinople. With a retro chic style and often frequented by celebrities, this bar is probably the most party friendly on this list. Maybe a little too crowded for a quiet conversation on a Friday or Saturday night, this bar boasts a delicious food and cocktail menu. From burgers to ribs and wines to beers there is always something here worth sinking your teeth (or lips?) into!
